Happy 2nd Birthday Plot 6a.

Today marks 2 years of being the proud owner of plot 6a and what a fab way to celebrate………….it is finally complete!!

A flask and egg butty at the ready I drove to plot 6a full of excitement, because today was the day the last phase of my plans were to be completed. With time and patience it does eventually come together and it’s exactly how I pictured it to look and more.

A couple of days ago we gathered everything that was needed to make a fence and last year I got a gate from an abandoned property that is due to be knocked down. We spent a good few hours today working away, also nearly losing a finger may I add!! Pallet’s can be a nuisance to get apart but we got there in the end and I’m so proud to say that my wonky but perfect fence is built and I actually have a gate!! It opens and closes, I can walk in and out of plot 6a, believe me I know because I did it so many times with a huge grin on my face haha.

While we were building the fence a man on the allotments walked by with a wheelbarrow full of bark. Now do you ever get moment’s in your life when everything just comes together and you can’t believe your luck? Well that was definitely one of those moments. The area near my fence is half barked and I wanted to do the same to with the other side. I was going to buy some tomorrow to finish that area off, but as if by magic a huge pile of bark has been dumped in the woods just behind the allotments.

I was straight on the phone to my better half to con him into being my bark buddy later in the afternoon. Once the fence was complete I drove home to get said bark buddy and we headed off with a wheelbarrow each and found the huge pile of bark. 7 wheelbarrow’s later and the area was complete and we topped up some of the older bark from last year.

I’m spending the day on plot 6a on Wednesday to paint the fence and gate and my better half said he would get more bark to top the rest of the old bark up. I’ve left a little boarder in front of my fence to put lots of plants in and give it a splash of color.

I’m also taking our Jack & Jill seat out of our garden to paint and use near the fence area. It gets sun all day up there and it will be nice to finally sit with a book, munch on my freshly picked strawberries and admire my 2 years of hard work.

Thanks for reading x

  1. Hello,

My name is Ola, and I help to write the blog at Thompson and Morgan, the seed company. We’re doing a special feature about allotment feeds on Instagram and came across yours.

I particularly enjoyed your photo of nasturtium seedlings and if it’s OK with you, I’d like to include your feed in our piece.

We’d like to mention this post:

The Thompson & Morgan blog attracts a large readership and you’ll be featured alongside some top bloggers, all of whom write with style and authority.

We’re hoping to publish the post soon; would it be alright if we use a picture to accompany the write-up of your Instagram feed? It goes without saying that we’ll credit and link, both the photo and our review of your Instagram feed, to your page, and I’ll be sure to let you know when we make this piece live.

We’re thinking of featuring this photo:

Should you have any queries, please do let me know – I’ll be happy to help.

    Many thanks,

    Ola
